SR/LDP Design Challenge #2

An operator wants to build their network so that the core uses LDP-only, and the edges use SR-only. The core routers are running on older hardware that does not support SR. Is an SRMS needed in this case?
No, an SRMS is not needed if no LSPs will terminate from the SR-only nodes to the LDP-only nodes. The LDP border routers will automatically swap SR labels for LDP labels and vice versa. Within the LDP-only network, labels will still be generated for the loopbacks of the SR-only nodes, since LDP allocates labels based on the IGP table.
